Volunteer
New and exciting things are happening at the Riley County Historical Museum and we invite you to join with us as a volunteer! Volunteers truly make a difference at our Museum, throughout our community, and are essential to our programs and outreach. Below are some of the opportunities for volunteers for which we currently have a need.

Current volunteer opportunities
ARCHIVE ASSISTANT
Help prepare finding aids for archives materials, or work on library/archives projects.
COLLECTIONS ASSISTANT
Assist with collections registration and care.
DOCENT
Give tours of the Riley County Historical Museum, Wolf House Museum, Goodnow House, and Hartford House, or assist with educational programs such as field trips.
GOODNOW INTERPRETIVE GARDEN
Planting, weeding, watering, general gardening maintenance, harvesting, and supporting the interpretive educational programs associated with the garden.
GUEST SERVICES
Greet visitors, answer telephone, staff gift store and run sales transactions.
INTERNSHIP
Opportunity for local students to gain practical experience in the fields of Museum Studies, Collections, Management, Historic Preservation, Marketing and Communications, and more.
MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS
Assist in creating content for social media, support the activities of the communications committee.
OFFICE ASSISTANT
General office duties, computer work.
PRESERVATION
Support the preservation committees of our historic properties (Wolf House Museum, Rocky Ford Schoolhouse, Hartford House, Pioneer Log Cabin, Old Randolph Jail).
RESEARCHER
Assist with research on Riley County history topics.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Provide a variety of support services for events and programs.
