Tours & Educational Programs

Guided Tours

The Riley County Historical Society and Museum offer guided tours at all its Museum sites (Riley County Historical Museum, Hartford House, Wolf House Museum, Goodnow House State Historic Site, Pioneer Log Cabin, and Rocky Ford School.) Please call ahead for group guided tours. We will be pleased to tailor the tour to the educational needs of your group, if we have lead time in which to prepare. 4th Grade Tours

A tour for all area 4th grade students is generally held at the Wolf House Museum each year, focusing on Riley County home life of the past. For more information call 785-565-6490.

Walking Tours of Downtown Manhattan, Aggieville and Sunset Cemetery may be arranged by calling 785-565-6490.

Speakers Bureau

Talks on Riley County History are available. Contact the Riley County Historical Museum 785-565-6490 for possible topics and to book.

Quarterly Dinner Meeting

The Riley County Historical Society holds quarterly dinner meetings featuring speakers on topics of Riley County history and other topics of interest. Generally the quarterly dinners are held in January, April, July and October, although some variation is possible. Members receive information about the dinners in their newsletter. Information is also available through the news media and by calling 785-565-6490. Everyone is welcome to attend the quarterly dinner and program. There is a charge for the dinner, and reservations are required, but the program is generally free and no reservation is usually required to attend the program.

Teacher Check Out Collection

The Riley County Historical Society has a collection of library/archive materials and objects that are available to teachers and others for check out. Riley County, Kansas and national history topics are all represented in this collection. To look at the collection call 785-565-6489.

The Riley County Historical Society has also sponsored a variety of other educational programs in the past including:
